Pamukkale - White Paradise: Pamukkale Travertines

Pamukkale is located in the province of Denizli on the Aegean coast of Turkey, in the Menderes Valley. Pamukkale Travertines, which have managed to make it to UNESCO's World Heritage List, are an important tourist destination and attract a large number of local and foreign tourists every year. These white travertines, named for their resemblance to cotton, are formed by sedimentary rocks deposited by thermal spring waters, also known as Precipitation Rocks. Located at the foot of Mount Cokelez, the Pamukkale Travertines are situated at an altitude of about 150 meters.

These travertines, believed to have formed approximately 400,000 years ago, are a natural wonder formed by minerals deposited by underground thermal waters on rocks. Initially jelly-like in consistency, these rocks have hardened over time to their current state. There are 17 hot springs with temperatures ranging from 35 to 100 degrees Celsius on the Pamukkale Travertines, which have terrace-like formations. These waters have a beneficial effect on conditions such as rheumatism, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, skin, and respiratory diseases. This is why many people come here not only to relax but also to improve their health.

You can visit the Pamukkale Travertines by paying 700 Turkish Lira for entry, while the entrance fee to the ancient pools is 150 Lira. However, citizens of the Republic of Turkey with a museum card can visit these travertines for free.
