Perge was founded by three commanders who fought in the Trojan War... This city was called "Land of All Nations." Perge also served as the capital of Pamphylia for a time and fell under the rule of many civilizations. Having experienced the periods of the Hittites, Romans, Hellenistic period, the city thus bears traces of all these civilizations.

Perge, one of the important cities of the Hittite Empire, was called "Parha" at that time. Perge reached its peak during the Roman period, becoming the most organized city of that time, and in the Hellenistic period, it was the most beautiful and rich city.

Perge was also the hometown of the Greek mathematician Apollonius of Perga. Additionally, it was a popular place for marble sculpture in ancient times.

The ancient city of Perge is also significant for Christianity. Saint Paul visited Perge during his missionary journeys, after arriving at the Aksu River. The Bible states that these two places are therefore considered holy.
